Day 12: Kolomoki Mounds State park to FD Roosevelt State Park

Cloudy this morning but no rain… yet. Today we leave the flat topography of southern Georgia and head into hillier more treed areas passing peanut farms, some wheat fields and pecan orchards. The Kolomoki Mounds is one of the largest and earliest Woodland period earthwork mound complexes in the Southeastern United States and is the largest in Georgia. Gorgeous 17 mile drive out of Okefenokee, sunny and warm. This time we are heading west along the Georgia side of the Florida panhandle north of Tallahassee. Day 5: Tybee Island to Blythe island

Bird sightings: terns, brown Pelican. Laughing gulls, egrets, great blue heron, swallows, osprey, grebes We left camp this morning reasonably early to avoid the heavy traffic on the bridge.
