June 22 Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, AB to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. SK

Gorgeous morning but still too cool to eat outside. I am beginning to think that may never happen on this trip. We took our time since we are only changing campsites/campgrounds in the same Park between provinces. This Park is divided into 3 blocks: West (Alberta), East ( Saskatchewan) and  Center. Its about 40 milesContinue reading “June 22 Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, AB to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. SK”

June 21 Waterton Lakes National Park, AB to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, AB

Today started off sunny but not particularly warm and still very windy. That must be normal for this part of the world. We didn’t rush out as our next destination is only 3 hours away. It’s my turn to drive. Heading east we have the mountains at our backs. June 20 Moyie Lake to Waterton National Park, AB

We stopped for lunch at Hinton. AB where we had our first glimpse ofContinue reading “June 1 Edmonton, AB to Jasper,AB / Jasper National Park”

May 30 Metis Crossing to Edmonton, AB

Coffee and breakfast outside again this morning! We have arranged for a ‘Metis guide’ to walk us around the site and talk about the history of the area. Our guide was a young university student working here as a ‘live actor’, registered Metis of Scottish/Cree decent rather than the usual French. We have enjoyed meetingContinue reading “May 30 Metis Crossing to Edmonton, AB”

May 29 The Battlefords, SK to Metis Crossing, AB

Absolutely gorgeous morning, full sunshine, no wind, very happy birds serenading us. We had breakfast outside for the first time since we left home. Bird sightings: king bird, killdeer, coots, magpies, same ducks and geese as before, Lloydminster is a city in Canada which has the unusual geographic distinction of straddling the provincial border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. The city is incorporated by bothContinue reading “May 29 The Battlefords, SK to Metis Crossing, AB”
