30 July, Grundy Provincial Park

Today was an in camp day although we had to change campsites in the afternoon.

It was a lazy day, but also a relatively productive one. After a breakfast of homemade corn bread and sausage patties, we went for a nice long walk. The weather has cooled off a bit, down into the high 70s with a bit of cloud. We are being diligent about getting our daily steps in, both of us. So far so good.

We both had non vacation work to do on our laptops and today was as good as any to get it done. We converted the van into an office space and spent an hour or so ‘working’.

Now it’s an office! The other day it was an ironing/sewing space. It’s amazing how versatile our little van is.

It was time to do some serious laundry and the washrooms here have machines so we added laundry to the Todo list. Check.

After lunch we needed to pack everything up just to move 3 campsites down. It gave us an opportunity to drive out to the camp store at the gate and get icecream. Always have to look for happy opportunities.

Brian spent the rest of the afternoon with his book and I (yeayyy) finished the quilt I have been working on for months. Quilt done. Check.

After months of hand quilting, my Inuit inspired quilt is finished. It is now one of our van quilts. I usually carry 2 of them. Anticipating finishing this one, I left the Yellowstone quilt I usually carry, at home. I purchased the fabric for this quilt in Canada last summer although the fabric designer is from Alaska. The two quilts in the van now are this one and one I made from fabric I purchased in Hawaii three years ago (the fabric shop burned down during the fire in Lahaina less than a year later so it has special significance too).

I thought I would take advantage of the showers here. My experience with public showers here just reinforced why I shower in the van. No more public showers for me after this. Why I keep trying is a mystery.

We had a simple meal for dinner, a nice long walk after, and now sitting quietly with a glass of wine. It’s 8:42 and enough light in the sky to read by. The other night on Manitoulin Island, it was so hot, that there were still kids in the water at 11 pm. A little cooler tonight. More like sweater/sweatshirt weather.
