The ferry was indeed delayed last night by 2 hours, leaving at 2 a.m. instead of midnight.
We spent about 6 hours in line prior to boarding. We were quite comfortable. We stretched out on the 2 banquettes. I had downloaded a couple of movies on my phone that I connected to our television site via HDMI cable. The TV runs on the 12v system in the van, so we don’t need a 110 system to run it. It was perfect for last night. We also slept a little bit.
About 1 a.m. this morning, they started boarding the ferry. We were not able to reserve the reclining seats this time. Having learned from our first ferry from NB to NS that ferries are cold, we had taken blankets and pillows with us last night. I also wore my travel vest and a fleece. Brian can sleep anywhere. I ended up on the floor. Can’t exactly say I slept.
We were both awake by about 6:30 and wandered down to the restaurant for a nice hot breakfast and coffee. We were lucky enough to get a window seat and enjoyed the last hour and a half of the sailing in a more comfortable environment than the earlier part of the trip.
We have about a 5 hour drive ahead of us. We’ll probably take turns driving and sleeping.
It is a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the 70s. We basically retraced our steps through here a month ago.
We stopped for lunch at a delightful bistro Cafe outside of Truro. We arrived at Loch Lomond Campsite around 3 pm. We have a very pretty partially shaded lottle campsite. We haven’t been able to put chairs out for several days, so this is a real treat. We even extended the awning, something we rarely do. It feels cozy.
Brian is cooking the salmon we bought in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland along with rice and raw vegetables. Icecream and raspberry almond scones for dessert.
It’s so hard to believe the exploration part of this trip is over. Tomorrow, we drive straight through New Brunswick north to just outside of Quebec City. It’s about an 8 hour day. We have driven through New Brunswick many times, and there is nothing we need to stop and visit. The same is true with Quebec City.
After tomorrow, the rest of the trip belongs to family, visiting and staying 2-3 nights each with daughters along the way. The whole family gathers in London, Ontario next weekend for a significant family celebration πΎ. I am so looking forward to it. I have been carrying around gifts π for almost 2 months now. No mean feat in a vehicle this size.
