Last night we were camped in Oak Mountain State Park, AL just outside of Birmingham. Turns put this is an equestrian park. We were camped amongst the stables and the horse pastures. Very picturesque. Unfortunately, severe storms were forecast and we stayed in the vehicle most of the time. Lucky for us we didn’t get as much rain as our surrounding areas.
The storm however brought cooler weather with it. Yesterday I was in a sleeveless top. This morning I am back to my sweatshirt. Our tenting neighbors looked positively frozen 😑.
Today is just a travel day as we head north and home. We need to be home by Friday afternoon so not a lot of time to dawdle. Mostly interstates now.
But we did start off on a few miles of beautiful cross country roads to avoid the traffic around Birmingham. It’s cool but a lovely morning none the less.
The leafing trees are ‘undoing’ themselves as we drive north.
Time change today as we go through Tennessee. We lose an hour.
Heavy traffic around Chattanooga and Knoxville as we are back into truck alley.
The redbugs are in bloom all along the highway. It’s very pretty.
I found boiled peanuts at one of our gas stops. We are in camp now enjoying a beer and the peanuts. Not a bad way to end the day. It’s cold. I have resorted to a sweater and a jacket. At least it’s sunny and we missed the storms that have been ripping through the U.S. this week.
