July 5 Driftwood PP (Stonecliffe, ON) to Ottawa, ON

This is our last official camping morning of the trip and we are in one of our favorite campgrounds. What a perfect ending. Another glorious morning, warm with a slight breeze. We are now experiencing summer heat and the breeze is lovely. It’s also keeping the bugs away.

Sitting here on the Ottawa River with the Province of Quebec on the opposite shore enjoying our lattes. We still have 6 days left but today starts a different routine. We are finally meeting our good friends and travel buddies from home in Ottawa this afternoon. They have been braving the heat and exploring Canada’s capital on their own before we join them.

Tomorrow the 4 of us head to eastern Quebec to stay at our middle daughter’s country home that they built during COVID-19 about an hour and a half from Ottawa and 2 hours from Montreal. Our oldest grandson will meet us there and another will join us on the weekend. The rest of the family is on vacation  in NFLD.

Hopefully we can explore this beautiful part of the Quebec Laurentians with our friends, an area we know well.

This morning, after we finish our very lazy breakfast, we need to clean up the van, pack up and empty the tanks for the last time. There will be no more opportunities to do so. I also have a PILE of laundry to do at my daughter’s.

Late evening sunset.
Next morning coffee
I just love this. Each campsite has access to its own beach. Love the towels hanging in between. Perfect place for families.

Still cleaning up food. Breakfast is the last of the cheese ‘muffins’ I made in Prince George, BC and the ham and egg bites I made somewhere, can’t remember now. Great timing. Not much left. That means I can buy my favorite foods in Quebec to take home like I always do…. especially bagels!

Ottawa Skyline from our hotel at the airport on a very hot, very hazy afternoon.

Sitting here on the Ottawa River being absolutely lazy. Do we have to move?

We did move and arrived in Ottawa by 2 pm just as our friends were about to have lunch. We hadn’t eaten yet, so the timing was perfect.
