May 9 Ottawa, ON

It’s a beautiful sunny day. Perfect for sightseeing in Ottawa. We crossed over into Quebec to visit the Canada History Museum in Gatineau, situated on the Ottawa River directly  across from Parliament Hill. It’s a beautiful museum and a good reminder of some history we will be reviewing on the rest of our trip. The last time I was here was in 2001 when the Canadian Federation of University Women hosted the International Federation of University Women triennial meeting and held an event in here.

We had lunch nearby at a local epicerie. A little reminder of 25+ years living in Quebec.

Lunch at the local epicerie. Best sandwich I’ve had in a long time. There is nothing like Quebec bread!

We spent the afternoon walking around Byward Market and strolling through Majors Hill Park just reveling in the tulips. Finding a place to park with the van was challenging but not impossible.

… and then there is this.. the U.S. Embassy right in the middle of all this beauty. Even the tulips can’t erase its ugliness ( my opinion only). It’s supposed to represent a bridge between the two countries. I’m just not seeing it.

We are going to visit friends for dinner. Looking forward to a wonderful evening.
