Last night was a beautiful evening. We sat outside until it was almost dark, had showers followed by a light supper of soup, cheese and crackers and a walk after dinner for the first time on this trip.
I have finally found time to do some reading for myself other than book club books on my Kindle, something I haven’t done in months.
Much warmer overnight and we didn’t need the heater.
Old Stone Fort Archeological Site is part of our campground. Sandwiched between two rivers, this area has served as ceremonial grounds for natives from the Woodlands period (estimated usage for about 500 years), powder mills for the Civil war and paper mills from the 1800s.

We walked the Wall Trail around the mounds. Absolutely gorgeous hiking with limestone waterfalls.

Our drive to our next campground was short, just 60 miles, with virtually no traffic. If I had to rate the TN roads from 1 to 10, I would give them an 11!
Fall Creek Falls State Park campground is FULL tonight. We got one of the 2 remaining campsites when we booked a month ago. Lots of families. Must be a Thanksgiving thing.
We have traveled now in our van for over a year without needing levelers. This is the second campground in TN that we’ve needed to be leveled. The sites are paved but not level. Front to back is not bad, but side to side is impossible.. especially if the fridge door won’t stay closed! Tonight’s site is so bad we borrowed levelers from the campsite next door. Guess we now have to finally get our own.
We are hoping to cook and eat our Thanksgiving dinner outside if we do it early enough. That’s the plan anyway… rack of lamb we brought with us, potatoes and onions in foil, steamed broccoli. I’ll make some lemon microwave cakes (well what else could I do?) With icecream for a late dessert.
Our family lives in another country and are working today but we will try to zoom later.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends and their families 👪.
