Starting the journey | Day 1

As mother nature would have it, she provided us with a little distraction the night before we were scheduled to leave… a tornado that swept through the neighborhood and almost 9″ of rain. It did provide proof that our newly installed generator does work.

So the morning began with working with our neighbors to remove the large maple tree branches blocking the road and dragging a very wet carpet out of the basement… in addition to picking up dead frog carcasses that littered the driveway.

Needless to say, the actual leaving for the trip itself was rather anticlimactic.

First nights stop was Cowan’s Gap State Park  in the Blue Mountain area of Pennsylvania. Situated almost at the top of ridge along a creek with a small lake, it was a very pretty campsite for our first night albeit with no cell phone coverage. After the suffocating heat / humidity of the days prior to leaving, snuggling under blankets due to the drop in temperature following tropical storm Ida was a pleasant relief.

Just a little cleaning up to do first.
