We woke up to a beautiful morning. Today’s travel is only 5 hours so we decided to pack up slowly and have a full breakfast. Having used the RoadTrek all summer, we have settled into a routine starting with lattes. We haven’t made breakfast inside yet so we decided today would be a good day to try. The small toaster oven fits just fine on the small flip up table for toasting Montreal bagels (actually the real thing from Montreal). Fried eggs completed the meal. All in all it took us an hour and half to eat, pack up and leave.. without rushing anything.
The drive west along PA highways 76 / 70 was hilly, beautiful and uneventful. We passed through a small section of West Virginia. Lunch was leftover salmon salad from last night’s meal, tomatoes and my homemade bread. More about the bread 🍞 later in the trip when I start baking my frozen homemade dough.
Tonight’s campsite is Dillon State Park near Zanesville, OH just east of Columbus. It’s Labor Day weekend so the campground is almost full. Mostly families… lots of firewood stacked up. They must take their campfires seriously here. I will take out our little City Lights campfire in a tin! We have no facility to carry firewood with us. Hamburgs, red wine and am Amish apple pie fir dinner.
We have also gotten into a good routine for making camp.. 10 minutes to set up the chairs and roll out the awning. We don’t need full hookups.
Campsites are perfect places to people watch. We can be around people safely at a distance during these delta covid times. It has been fun observing families getting together.
